Anthropic transfers 5% of shares to public benefit fund

Anthropic has created a separate public benefit fund that will receive an initial 5% of the company’s shares, with more added as its value grows.
Anthropic announced the creation of the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a separate structure that will hold part of the company’s shares and operate as a public benefit fund. Money from it will be used for donations to NGOs, direct payments to selected groups of scientists or citizens, and similar purposes.
5% of the shares are allocated immediately. An additional 2% will be added for every 50% increase in the company’s value above a defined baseline. In other words, the more Anthropic grows, the larger the share directed toward public goals.
In the coming months, the company says it will provide more details about the fund’s structure and governance.
Elon Musk, for his part, appeared in the comments under Anthropic’s announcement on X and said that he intends to distribute shares directly to society (whatever that may mean in practice).
