OpenAI adds outbound phone call support to GPT-Live API

OpenAI has added official support for outbound SIP calls in the GPT-Live API, enabling developers to build voice AI agents that call people in real time.
OpenAI has added support for outbound phone calls in the GPT-Live API.
Developers can now create voice AI agents that autonomously dial phone numbers and talk to people in real time. For example, an agent could call a restaurant to book a table, check product availability in a store, or confirm a customer appointment.
Previously, similar scenarios could be implemented through third-party services. OpenAI now provides official support for outbound SIP calls through the GPT-Live API using providers such as Twilio and Telnyx.
Why it matters
AnalysisNative outbound-call support reduces reliance on third-party voice infrastructure and makes it easier to build real-time phone-based AI agents for reservations, confirmations, and customer service.
