A new part of the almost annual tradition has been released — an essay by Dario Amodei, head of Anthropic, on his views on the development of AI.
In light of incidents involving uncontrolled AI behavior since summer and the rapid growth of model capabilities due to partial recursive self-improvement, Amodei has directly called for slowing down AI development.
This time, he did not limit himself to general reflections and proposed a concrete plan for slowing down. Anthropic has already begun implementing it.
At the same time, Amodei expects an abundance and the curing of most diseases in the next 5–10 years.
"I believe that AI will be able to cure most serious diseases in the next 5–10 years, significantly accelerate economic growth, create a world of abundance and new opportunities, and open a new era of democracy and freedom."
Elon Musk has already agreed with him.
