Anthropic Spends More on Internal Claude Use Than on Employee Salaries

Anthropic disclosed in its IPO filing that it has spent more on internal use of Claude than on employee salaries for the past six months, if the usage is priced at customer rates.
Internal Claude spending first exceeded salaries (excluding equity) in April of this year. From January to September, internal usage grew by more than 250 times.
The startup says that using Claude allows it to multiply revenue without massively expanding headcount: over the past 18 months, revenue grew 86 times, while the number of employees increased only 5 times.
