Grok Bot 0.18.0 Release: Code Becomes Open

After the incident with the Claude Code leak, I thought things couldn't get any more absurd. However, recently a developer discovered that the official release of Grok Bot 0.18.0 came out along with source code maps.

He followed this lead, restored almost the entire client code of Grok Bot, and uploaded the repository on GitHub.

Typically, in closed-source JavaScript products, the code is minified and bundled before release, leaving an almost unreadable mass on the outside. Source code maps are needed by developers for debugging and allow them to link this mass to the original files and project structure.

Cursor simply included these maps directly in the build.

As a result, the internals of Grok Bot — agent coordination, model routing, local execution, protocols, and other logic — can now be dissected almost layer by layer.

Moreover, the restored version has already started being modified to add support for Claude Code, Codex, and OpenRouter, as well as the ability to run everything locally in Docker instead of connecting to Cursor's remote infrastructure.

This is certainly not a leak of the entire source code of Cursor. But for a company that is literally in the business of creating programming tools with AI, the situation is quite amusing.

And yes, the repository probably won't last long.
