GPT-5.6: New Features and Capabilities

GPT-5.6 introduces new features, including the powerful ChatGPT Work agent that integrates data from various platforms.
GPT-5.6: New Features and Capabilities
tl;dr: The model part is impressive, although this was expected:
– GPT-5.6 Sol shows high results almost everywhere. According to several benchmarks, OpenAI claims that the model either sets a new SOTA level or is very close to it, while using fewer tokens, taking less time, or having a lower estimated cost. Moreover, in several tests, it outperforms Fable 5, although, of course, not in all. It will be possible to test it for free within 24 hours.
– Terra: average, for everyone.
– Luna: the smallest and very fast, will also be available for free.
But the most interesting is ChatGPT Work - an agent inside ChatGPT that works just like Codex. It can gather context from documents, Slack, Notion, Microsoft 365, and Google Drive, and then turn this disparate array of information into ready-made presentations, documents, spreadsheets, dashboards, visualizations, and interactive explanations.
Other new features include a new desktop application for ChatGPT, a unified plugin system for ChatGPT and Codex, Sites (Beta), support for multiple tabs and corporate authentication in the Browser, as well as accelerated Computer Use.
OpenAI has also lifted usage limits for ChatGPT Work and Codex, while Anthropic has lifted weekly limits for Claude.
Why it matters
AnalysisThis is important because the new capabilities of GPT-5.6 can significantly enhance data handling and process automation. Integration with popular platforms makes this model even more valuable for businesses.
