OpenAI Unveils GPT-5.6 Sol Ultrafast on Cerebras
OpenAI has demonstrated its new GPT-5.6 Sol Ultrafast model, capable of processing up to 750 output tokens per second, which is 14 times faster than the standard mode. A patch of code containing 2,000 tokens is transmitted in approximately 2.7 seconds, and the entire output limit of 128,000 tokens can theoretically be consumed in less than 3 minutes.
OpenAI describes this mode as "more useful work per second" and notes that it can "turn research that previously had to be left running overnight into an interactive work session."
Currently, Ultrafast is available to a limited group of clients. Others can submit a request to receive notifications when access is expanded.
Why it matters
AnalysisThis new technology from OpenAI could significantly accelerate research and development processes, opening up new opportunities for scientists and developers. Increased data processing speeds may lead to more efficient resource utilization across various fields.
