Anthropic tightens restrictions on recreating video games in Claude Code

A new server-side rule in Claude Code prohibits recreating specific existing video games, even if they are renamed or presented as original.
Around October 27, Claude Code received a new rule delivered from Anthropic's servers via the tengu_heron_brook flag. It cannot be disabled in settings.
Full text of the rule:
It is allowed to create original games, games in a specific genre, and games based on the user's own ideas and assets. It is prohibited to recreate a specific existing video game, even if it has been renamed or presented as original.
Does this mean the end of game remakes, modding, and everything related to them?
Why it matters
AnalysisThis may limit common Claude Code workflows for rapidly prototyping games inspired by known franchises. Developers should distinguish between genre ideas and specific existing games.
