OpenAI Closes Atlas

OpenAI is shutting down its Atlas browser, released less than a year ago, as new features will be integrated into ChatGPT.
OpenAI Closes Atlas\n\nOpenAI's proprietary browser was released less than a year ago, but due to recent updates, its time has come to an end. Overall, we are not losing anything, as instead of Atlas, there are now: \n\n- A large built-in browser in the new ChatGPT application. It will have all the familiar functionality: page search, downloads, multiple tabs, password manager, etc. It opens with Cmd + T.\n\n- A cloud browser for the Work agent, where it can perform your tasks. The agent will ask for your permission to use the site (or you can set auto-approval), and in a small window on the right, you will see what is happening. If you click on this window, you can take control of the browser at any time. Ideal for searching for various tickets, filling out forms, etc.\n\n- ChatGPT extension for Chrome. The agent sees the full context of your browser, including highlighted text, can manage tabs, and has access to the local file system, memory from the main ChatGPT, and installed plugins. This extension alone fully replaces Atlas.
Why it matters
AnalysisThis is important as OpenAI continues to enhance its tools by integrating new features that improve user experience. The closure of Atlas reflects the company's adaptation to user needs.
