Karpathy vibe-codes HackerBooks, a book recommendation library from Hacker News, in two hours

Andrej Karpathy created HackerBooks in two hours: a catalog of more than 15,000 books mentioned in Hacker News posts and discussions, filtered to titles referenced by at least two people.
Andrej Karpathy, who has previously criticized YouTube recommendations, vibe-coded his own alternative in just two hours.
After Karpathy’s yesterday experiment, in which he created HackerTube using Opus 5.5, another similar project appeared — HackerBooks.
HackerBooks collects books mentioned in posts and discussions on Hacker News. The catalog includes more than 15,000 books, but only titles mentioned by at least two people are counted.
The result is an interesting recommendation library. Among the most popular books are Donald Knuth’s “The Art of Computer Programming” and Douglas Hofstadter’s “Gödel, Escher, Bach”.
