Google Accused of Copying Open-Source Code for New Tool Artemis

Artemis, Google's new open-source tool for mobile device automation, turned out to be a near-exact copy of someone else's work.

The authors of the original project mobile-use randomly named one of their agents "hopper". This same name and its system instruction were found inside Artemis.

The names of several engineers and the co-founder of the original project were also discovered in the authors section of one of the old commits.

Later, all three names in one of the commits were replaced with the name of another author, while the remaining 228 files from mobile-use remained unchanged.

Google has already admitted this, but only after being caught. The incident is being actively discussed on Reddit.
