DeepSeek Releases Its Harness: The Fastest Growing Project on GitHub

In just a few days, the repository has already gathered over 140,000 stars, even faster than OpenClaw did at its peak.

The harness is a layer that transforms a bare model into an agent, defining how it interacts with files, tools, memory, and task execution cycles. In simple terms, it encompasses everything except the weights.

DSH is based on the Cordis meta-framework and adheres to the concept of "Everything is a plugin." This means that everything in the system (models, tools, skills, sessions, sandboxes, file systems, orchestration, UI) is implemented as a plugin, allowing for mixing, replacing, and extending.

In addition to the CLI, there is also a local web interface, which is a nice touch. The agent can also invoke Claude Code or Codex as sub-agents within its workflow.

It can be launched with a single command:

BASH
npx -ai/dsh web

This new harness from DeepSeek opens up new possibilities for developers, allowing for easy integration of various components into AI systems. This can significantly simplify the process of creating autonomous agents.
