Executive TL;DR30s read

A roundup of recent AI news: new LLM releases, OpenAI and Anthropic subscription changes, world models, video generation, and research updates.

LLM

  • GPT-6.1 Terra — a new OpenAI model focused on computer use. In the API on short context, it costs $1/$5 per million input/output tokens.
  • Gemini 4 Carbon — topped the AA Intelligence Index v5.0 at announcement. Access is currently being given to selected cybersecurity professionals through Fairwind; there is no general release date yet.
  • Mistral Large 4 — Le Chonk weights were released with 1T parameters and 52B active. MaaS requires a separate license.
  • Kimi K3.1 Pro — an update to K3 focused on Blender, Unity, Unreal, and Godot. Already available in Moonshot products; weights are promised by November 4.
  • Claude Duet — an always-on cloud agent from Anthropic with a separate app. Preview via waitlist in the US, including for Pro.
  • OpenAI cache — Responses API introduced a 12-hour prompt cache. Writing is twice as expensive as the 30-minute cache; the read price is unchanged.

Pricing changes

  • OpenAI doubled limits for $100 and $500 Pro subscribers and canceled limit reductions for $200 Pro. In addition, Pro subscribers now receive API credits equal to the subscription amount.
  • Anthropic renamed the $100 and $200 Claude subscriptions to Max and Ultra. These plans will no longer have five-hour limits.

Generative models

  • Hy-Nomas — Tencent’s world model with text and camera control. Code and weights are under Apache 2.0; LoRA fine-tuning is available.
  • Genie 4 — interactive worlds gained sound, dialogues, and on-the-fly text editing. It is currently a closed preview; access is promised later in Google AI Ultra.
  • FLUX 3 Max — according to fal benchmarks, 10 seconds of 720p video are generated in 12.45 seconds. Until November 7, such a clip costs $0.425; afterwards, $1.70.

Other

  • ETH refutation — OpenAI and Anthropic said they refuted the exponential time hypothesis and posted proofs in Lean. P vs NP remains open.
  • Anthropic IPO — the S-1 disclosed an $80.7 billion loss for the half-year, including $72.4 billion of noncash revaluation of convertible notes.
  • Robot bodyguard — Unitree showed H2-X with a backflip, a 4-meter jump, and lifting a car. How autonomous it is remains unclear.
